I am writer and translator in both Marathi and English and have four books to my credit. Active in various child right groups and a I am a regular column writer in local news papers.

A clinical psychologist by qualification, did my masters from Mumbai university,. Presently I am the vice chairperson of Sangath Society.I have been working with teenagers for several years now, counseling and psycho therapy, career guidance, has been conducting workshops for teachers, Parents, students. Have also been involved in research (specifically qualitative research) in behavioral health, overseeing huge research projects. Has worked as a trainer as well as consultant with organizations outside Goa and within Sangath
Vikram Patel is a psychiatrist committed to a public health approach to mental health problems in under-resourced settings. He is a Wellcome Trust Senior Clinical Research Fellow at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, but lives and works in Goa with government health agencies and NGOs, including Sangath (of which he is one of the founders). His recent books include Where There Is No Psychiatrist (Gaskell, 2003), a manual on mental health for community health workers and Meeting Mental Health Needs in Developing Countries: NGO Innovations in India (Sage India, 2003). His research has focused on the influence of social determinants on mental health, the treatments of mental disorders in community and primary care settings, and the interface of mental health with other public health priorities such as maternal and child health and reproductive and sexual health.
